Modern domestic and import transmissions are becoming increasingly complex. From CVT to sequential manual gearboxes, we can handle it all. Typical signs of failing transmission are lurching upon acceleration, slow acceleration, audible noise upon acceleration or deceleration or- your car just doesn’t go when you hit the gas.
Transmission Rebuild
Transmission Rebuilding is viable on traditional transmission and manual gearboxes. CVT, SMG, or latest gen automatics are not eligible for rebuild.
Remanufactured swap
Our extensive inventory of remanufactured transmissions is extensive. Using only factory seals, gaskets, solenoids and valve bodies- our reman option is ideal if you’re in a hurry or if you have catastrophic drivetrain failure.
Used/Economy option
Depending on your circumstances and the mileage of your vehicle- a used transmission may be the way to go. This is ideal if you’re just looking to extend the life of your car.
This is most often the option people choose if you have a 4 cylinder commuter car. All of our used transmissions go through a lengthy diagnostic process prior to installing, and will get new fluid and filters.
New/Factory crate transmissions
For European and asian vehicles, we have access to a few sources for new factory transmissions. Fair warning, this is often not economically viable. Reach out today if you have been told by another shop that you need a new crate transmission.
Service-only
Simple fluid and filter will solve almost 80% of failing transmissions. Factory service specs vary, but typically most will need to be serviced after 100K miles. CVT transmissions are not technically “serviceable” but you can take steps to lengthen their life with manufacturer service intervals.
B.Y.O.T.
At Mavericks, we grudgingly accept customer-provided transmissions. Typically, there is no way to verify service life or viability of a sealed transmission prior to install. This is only available if the customer has first hand knowledge that the replacement transmission is in good shape, but unfortunately we cannot provide labor warranty on BYOT repairs.
